| Have you tried to go on some british goth forums? Although understanding written English is not that difficult , oral understanding is a different matter. If you've got adsl, it might also be a good excercice for you to listen to some radios online, theater plays on the BBC or stuff like this. Ireland is really beautiful and some parts of England too, I heard (I know only of Cornwall). Personnally, I would really love going to Scotland. It sounds like a mysterious realm and in rural Scotland, many people still keep to their old beliefs in fairies, just like in Iceland although Icelandic people call them elves. | |

...but Scotish accent is bloody f...ing difficult to understand ! Anyway, I'd like to go there one day, in Wales as well...but same old story, I miss my little ol' Ireland so when I eventually got some cash, that's where I go.... The college I work in is twined with a city in the South of England, in Devonshire...I've had the opportunity to go twice with the students...waow ! Bath, Tintagel, Dartmoor...the next thing would be to visit Glastonbury.... | |

| Oh yes, the Scottish accent is very tough, even British people need subtitles to understand them. They have a special dialect which has lots of nordic words (because of Vikings' settlements), but since I speak Norwegian, it is not completely foreign to me. However, I find Irish people much more difficult to understand, apart from people from the southern area who speak quite gently and slowly. Devon, that's definitely an area I'd like to visit, all this green and these low cottages that look like some hobbit's houses! Or... maybe will I be disappointed? Things are often much nicer in our imagination... Finally, imagination contains everything we need. Although, it has one disadvantage: it is not reality... That's deep... | |
